I love this! I think everyone can relate to our home almost being a sanctuary, a place where we are the most comfortable and can let go. Love the little tip, I will absolutely be making a lil nest to watch my reality TV :)
This so perfectly captures why home feels good! I love all the details and examples you mention here (messy sandwich, definitely not an outside thing!).
It’s funny. As I read this, I enjoyed terribly posture on a couch my son jumped on until it broke underneath, and my cat is snoring, as is the dog. No pretending here, just cozy silliness. Thank you for the invitation to recognize that.
This makes total sense. Reminds me of that feeling I get when I come home and take off my uncomfortable work clothes. Home sweet home isn’t a phrase for nothing. Love this!
Reading this as I listen to the birds outside the window. I am imagining their little nest with various twigs and leaves they’ve collected. I have been organizing my home since I was maybe 5 years old and have been doing it professionally for almost 8 years. In recent years I started to focus on working with families with young kids because I had so many mom clients telling me how they hide out in their bathrooms for a moment of peace. It completely changed how I work. I begin to prioritize creating a sanctuary for the parents, so before we get to the rest of the home or the kids’ mess, we build up the parents’ capacity and room for rest. This little neat idea inspires me to help them incorporate something even more cozy. Thank you! 🪺
I absolutely LOVED this piece Aurinna as it really aligned with where I'm at and I suppose I found a personal meaning in it. I am planning on moving soon as my current environment doesn't fully serve me anymore. As I was reading your gorgeous piece, all I could think was "yes!! that's exactly it!! that's why my space doesn't feel as great anymore...I've outgrown my space and don't have those sensory rituals and quirks that make a space feel cosy". So thank you for that 💛
It was also so fun to read about the comparison of how we don't have this sensory control outside the home. Seems obvious but I've never thought of it so intentionally 🫶
Thanks so much, what a mindful comment. So glad the piece resonated with you!
Oh that is the most important reason to move in my opinion, having that feeling that the space is just not serving all your senses and needs anymore. Hope you find something perfect! ❤️
I love how you treat all those tiny rituals as intelligence instead of fussiness; it makes “shoes off, lights low, nest built” feel less like a quirk and more like a nervous system survival plan. You are naming exactly what I see with so many high functioning women whose bodies only exhale once they get back to the one place they can actually curate, down to the label on the t‑shirt and the angle of the lamp.
In my world, that is not indulgence but infrastructure: the cave where her system finally gets proof that she is safe, in control, and allowed to let everything unclench.
Your invitation to make a nest sounds simple on the surface, but it is secretly teaching women to give their bodies the kind of sensory care they keep trying to earn with productivity, and I adore that!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. It honestly doesn't surprise me that lots of women feel this way, everyone needs time for being fully off-duty, even on a very physical level.
I love this! Such a great reminder of intentionally curating that space of comfort in our homes. Love the idea of making a nest 💜 My kids have a four day weekend, I might try this with them one of their days off!
Yes! I am also thinking of actually doing this, as the toddler is absolutely obsessed with little hideaways. And honestly as a kid my fave thing was reading and eating a snack in a little nest or tent.

Yes it should be exactly that, and a nest is the best place to be!
I’m such a homebody and this totally resonated!
Aww love to hear that! 💕

Yes, some of the most important reasons to eat at home. ❤️

Well that sounds absolutely perfect to me. Thanks for reading Natasha ❤️

Thank you so much! And yes changing out of work clothes is ❤️❤️❤️
I love the idea of making a little nest at home. I've been prepping our balconies to be an oasis this summer for rest. Also love these illustrations
Thanks so much! Oh yes, making the nest is like the coziest thing. Luckily our toddler is obsessed with them, so making one almost daily now.

Awww thank you so much for your kind words! I love that this resonates with someone who does this professionally too ❤️

My daughter and I made a nest a few days ago. I fell asleep in it. Safe to say, this non-napper was incredibly comfortable.
That sounds soooo cozy!
Ohhhhh I love making a little nest! That’s great homework ◡̈
I tried it recently, it is the most relaxing thing there is!
